Narainpur, April 21 (NationPress) Nagaland achieved their second consecutive victory in the ongoing matches by narrowly defeating Bengal 1-0 in Group H during the Swami Vivekananda U20 Men's National Football Championship held at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground on Monday.
In a separate encounter from the same group earlier that day, Haryana kept their quarter-final hopes alive by triumphing over Madhya Pradesh with a score of 4-1.
After the conclusion of Round Two in the four-team Group H, Nagaland tops the group with six points from two matches. They only need a draw in their final match against Haryana to advance further. Meanwhile, Haryana needs to secure a win, having accumulated four points from two games.
Bengal has one point from two matches, while Madhya Pradesh has been eliminated after losing both of their matches.
Nagaland, who previously defeated Madhya Pradesh comfortably, found Bengal to be a tougher opponent. However, a goal from Ghuqhe Chishi in the 13th minute was decisive.
In this intense match, which featured some heated moments, Chishi managed to score from a corner kick, pushing the ball past a crowd of Bengal defenders. The assist came from Nagaland captain S Ayenmongba, who skillfully maneuvered past two defenders before setting up Chishi.

The day's opening match was dominated by Haryana, who raced to a 3-0 lead by halftime. After some balanced exchanges, Yatin opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a powerful left-footed shot from within the penalty box.
In the following 19 minutes, two more goals were added. Yaman Sheoran made it 2-0 for Haryana with a precise finish from the left side. Midfielder Anni, who previously scored in a match against West Bengal, netted his second goal of the tournament with a left-footed volley in the 37th minute.
In the second half, Madhya Pradesh's Rohit Yadav managed to score a header in the 64th minute, reducing the deficit. However, Haryana responded with a fourth goal, courtesy of Sameer Warkade's own goal.
