Dehradun (Uttarakhand), June 27 (NationPress) Former world champion and Olympian Anish Bhanwala showcased his remarkable talent by winning two consecutive trials in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (Men) event. Meanwhile, Narmada Nithin from Tamil Nadu emerged victorious in the Women's 10m Air Rifle on the fourth day of the National Selection Trials 3&4 for Group ‘A’ Rifle and Pistol shooters, currently taking place at the Trishul Shooting Range, Maharana Pratap Sports College in Raipur.
Narmada delivered an impressive performance, scoring 253.7 in the 24-shot final, narrowly defeating ISSF World Cup Final silver medalist Sonam Uttam Maskar by just 1.7 points. Rajshree Anilkumar from Delhi secured third place with a score of 230 after 22 shots.
In a highly competitive women’s air rifle field, Narmada had finished sixth during qualification with a score of 629.5. Mehuli Ghosh, a world championship medalist, led the qualification round with 632.2, edging out Sonam by a mere 0.1 points, while Rajshree closely followed at 631.9 after six series of 10 shots each.
The final lineup also included Shreya Agrawal (630.5), Vidarsha K Vinod (630.3), Ayonika Paul (629.4), and Dnyaneshwari Jayveer Patil (629.3).
In the men’s 25m RFP T4 final, Anish maintained his stellar performance, scoring 30 and securing his second consecutive victory in the trials. Pradeep Singh Shekhawat from the Navy finished with silver at 29, while Anish’s teammate from Haryana, Adarsh Singh, took home bronze with a score of 23.
Anish had also dominated the T4 qualification round, scoring 584-20x, and bagged another double in qualifications. Adarsh followed closely with 581-14x, finishing ahead of fellow Haryanvi shooter Mandeep Singh (579-16x).
Other notable competitors included Bhavesh Shekhawat (577-10x), Udhayveer Sidhu (576-15x), and Pradeep Singh Shekhawat (574-22x), all contributing to a tightly contested field.
The trials will continue on Day Five (Saturday, June 28, 2025) with three finals scheduled: 10m Air Rifle Women T4, 25m Pistol Women T4, and 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men T3.
Anish enters the third and fourth rounds of the trials following the Munich World Cup, where he consistently excelled in the men’s Rapid Fire Pistol. He qualified third for the six-man final with a score of 581, achieving two perfect series of five hits in the eight 5-shot series decider, keeping his rivals on their toes. Bhavesh Shekhawat from Rajasthan secured second place with 34 hits, while Vijayveer Sidhu from Punjab clinched the bronze.
