Dehradun, June 26 (NationPress) Olympian and current mixed team pistol World Champion Esha Singh was one of the three victors on Day Three of the National Selection Trials 3 & 4 for Group A Rifle and Pistol shooters, taking place at the Trishul Shooting range in Uttarakhand's capital.

Telangana's Esha clinched the title in the 25m pistol women's T3 event, while Kerala's Vidarsa Vinod triumphed in the 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) T4 competition, and Maharashtra’s Parth Rakesh Mane secured the 10m air rifle men T4 championship, marking another day of fierce rivalry among India's top rifle and pistol shooters.

Esha scored 580 to finish third in the qualifications but showcased her prowess in the finals, decisively defeating Maharashtra's Abhidnya Ashok Patil, who had to settle for silver. Tamil Nadu’s Niveditha Nair took home bronze.

Abhidnya, who dominated qualifications with an impressive 585, maintained a two-point lead over Esha until the seventh series of the 10-series final. However, the Olympian concluded with two flawless series, scoring five-hits and four-hits in her final rounds, achieving a total of 41. Abhidnya managed seven points in the last three series, finishing with 36, while Niveditha exited after the ninth series with a score of 30.

In the men’s 10m air rifle T4, the eighth and final qualification spot was secured at 630.6 after 60 shots. Two-time Olympian and 3P specialist Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar led with a score of 633.5, while Parth qualified fourth at 631.9.

Winner of the T3 trial, Uma Mahesh Maddineni, started strong in the finals, which also included former world number one and world record holder Divyansh Singh Panwar along with three Army shooters.

Junior World Championship medalist Parth consistently hovered around third place early on, then joined Aishwary at the lead after the 16th single shot of the eliminations. A remarkable 10.7 on his 17th shot placed him in sole lead, and he maintained this position to secure victory with a score of 251.8.

Aishwary finished just 0.3 points behind in second place, while Uma rounded out the top three.

In the women’s 3P T4 final, Kerala's Vidarsa Vinod triumphed over a competitive field, finishing with 462.7 after 45 shots, narrowly outpacing Punjab’s former world championship silver medallist and two-time Olympian Anjum Moudgil by just 0.3 points. Nischal from Haryana, a World Cup silver medallist, secured third.

Earlier, T3 winner Sift Kaur Samra from Punjab led qualifications with an outstanding score of 594, edging out world championship medalist Mehuli Ghosh by a single point. The sixth qualifying spot was filled by the winner with a score of 587.

The trials continued into the fourth day on Friday, featuring two finals: the 10m air rifle women T3 and the 25m rapid-fire pistol men T4.
