This tournament, under his stewardship, signifies a historic and empowering move towards fostering women's cricket from the grassroots level.
The tournament's first match was contested between RPCA and N.K. Khanna Club at the scenic grounds of Modern School, Barakhamba Road. With the involvement of 41 DDCA-registered clubs, this event is set to provide an exhilarating platform for aspiring women cricketers to showcase their talents and make a lasting impression.
During the opening ceremony, chief guest Sangeeta Jaitley remarked to the players that this tournament is more than just a competition; it embodies a powerful message of resilience and inner strength. “This platform will be a standard of hard work and self-confidence. I believe it will inspire many generations of female athletes,” she stated.
DDCA vice-president Shikha Kumar, a passionate supporter of women’s cricket, recognized the efforts made to bring this tournament to life.
“This tournament was long overdue. Thanks to the unwavering support of President Rohan Jaitley and the Apex Council, it has finally become a reality. I am confident that the standout performers here will soon represent Delhi, the Women’s Premier League (WPL), and even the Indian national team,” she emphasized.
