Kelly will take charge during the three 50-over matches, after which Carter will assume the captaincy for the two four-day contests.

All three players—Kelly, Mariu, and Abbas—made their international debuts against Pakistan earlier this month. Abbas made headlines by achieving the fastest ODI fifty on debut, reaching the landmark in just 24 balls. In addition, Kelly and Mariu were the leading run-scorers in the recent Plunket Shield season.

Carter contributes significant experience from New Zealand A's 2022 tour of India, where he maintained an impressive average of 60.40 and scored two centuries, including a personal best of 197.

Wicketkeeper Mitch Hay, who scored an unbeaten 99 against Pakistan in Hamilton, joins the squad, along with allrounder Josh Clarkson.

The bowling unit is bolstered by seasoned pacers Zak Foulkes and Ben Lister, while legspinner Adi Ashok, a member of the squad against Pakistan, also returns.

The team will be under the guidance of coach Bob Carter, alongside high-performance coach Paul Wiseman and former Otago Volts assistant coach Ben McCord.

“We’re genuinely excited about touring Bangladesh. It’s a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge consistent performers from the home summer. The squad represents an exhilarating blend of domestic talent and rising international stars,” Carter remarked.

He noted that the conditions in Bangladesh would provide valuable learning experiences.

“For many players, this will be their first encounter with sub-continent conditions, which represents a significant challenge and a fantastic opportunity to enhance their skill sets.”

The three one-day matches are scheduled in Sylhet on May 5, 7, and 10. The first four-day match will take place at the same venue from May 14–17, with the second match in Dhaka from May 21–24.
