New Delhi, May 13 (NationPress) Nishika Aggrawal from Telangana showcased her exceptional talent at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), successfully defending her gold medal in the women’s artistic gymnastics all-around competition held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi on Tuesday.
This marks the third appearance for the 17-year-old Khelo India athlete (KIA) in the Games, following her previous participations in Tamil Nadu and Haryana. “I have gained immense confidence from competing in KIYG over the years. This time, I was determined to give my best and utilized my focus and concentration effectively, which contributed to my success,” Nishika expressed in an interview with SAI Media post-final.
Nishika, who joined the senior India team last year, triumphed over fellow KIAs Anoushka Patil and Sara Rawool from Maharashtra, who secured silver and bronze, respectively.
In the men’s all-around final, Khelo India Athletes continued to excel as Harschit D from Uttar Pradesh outperformed Niladri Sarkar from West Bengal to claim the top spot. Akshat Bajaj from Delhi took home the bronze.
Maharashtra also dominated the rhythmic gymnastics events, with Parina Madanpotra winning gold in the individual all-around event with a score of 83.650. Her teammate Shubhashree Singmore earned silver, while Raechal Deep from Delhi secured bronze.
“I am pleased with my performance and grateful to Khelo India for organizing the Games. The arrangements and especially the food have been outstanding,” Parina remarked.
