Chandigarh, March 20 (NationPress) As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 approaches, Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer and star pacer Arshdeep Singh expressed their enthusiasm and strategies for the upcoming season. During a significant event in Mohali on Friday, where the team's new jersey was revealed, they discussed the importance of team unity, overcoming personal adversities, and their strong bond with the franchise.

A key priority for the squad is to cultivate a solid off-field connection before the intense matches commence. Captain Shreyas Iyer emphasized that the time they share in the team hotel is equally as crucial as their practice sessions.

"This is the time we act as a family for two months," Shreyas remarked. "The more we interact, the better we understand one another. Now is the moment to forge that bond. We spend most of our time in the game room enjoying FIFA and other games. While planning for the matches typically happens a day or two prior, strengthening our relationships off the field ultimately leads to improved outcomes."

Shreyas also reflected on his personal journey of returning to play following a challenging injury. "Coming back after an injury is always tough. I had shed around seven kilos, and regaining that weight required significant effort. However, I thrive on challenges. I’m proud to have conquered that phase of my life and to be back, representing my team with pride," he shared.

Embracing the affection from Punjab fans, who affectionately call him 'Sarpanch Sahab', Shreyas was clear about his primary ambition. "Expectations are high, which I find exhilarating. I relish the challenge. However, the primary goal is to win whenever we step onto the field. My focus is on the trophy," he stated.

Local favorite and ace bowler Arshdeep Singh echoed his captain’s confident sentiment, especially about playing in front of their fervent home crowd in Mullanpur.

"Feeling pressure is a privilege," Arshdeep said with a smile. "It’s incredibly enjoyable to have such robust support from the audience. When the crowd cheers for you, it feels like 30,000 people are running alongside you at that moment. We will strive to win all our home games this season."

Reflecting on his journey with the franchise, the fast bowler expressed immense gratitude for the support he received early in his career.

"The journey has been fantastic," Arshdeep noted. "When I first joined, they provided me with unwavering support and revealed my potential. They placed their trust in me when no other team did. I truly appreciate that, and I wish to stay here for a long time, aiming to secure numerous trophies for the team."
