New Delhi, Nov 29 (NationPress) The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has announced that two new stands will be unveiled at the PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, dedicated to the renowned Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and the legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.
Prior to the 4th T20I match between India and South Africa at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, the Indian women’s team’s World Cup-winning captain will receive recognition for her outstanding accomplishments with a stand named in her honour. A separate stand will also be inaugurated to celebrate the illustrious career of Yuvraj Singh.
“We are proud to honour Harmanpreet Kaur for her monumental World Cup victory, and we are excited to announce that a stand will be named after her. This inauguration will take place on the 11th during the India-South Africa match. Additionally, we will also unveil a stand dedicated to our former player and two-time World Cup winner, Yuvraj Singh, on the same day,” shared Siddhant Sharma with IANS on Saturday.
“Both Amanjot Kaur and Harmanpreet will also receive cash awards that were announced following their World Cup triumph earlier this month. Naming a stand after them is merely a small gesture compared to the immense achievement they have brought to our nation. This serves as a token of our appreciation for their remarkable accomplishments. Emerging players will find inspiration in cricketers like Harmanpreet, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah. They motivate young girls, and their success will encourage future generations,” he added.
Harmanpreet Kaur led Team India to a historic triumph at the Women’s World Cup in Navi Mumbai on November 2, marking the Women in Blue's first-ever ICC title.
