PCB Asserts Pakistan Must Host Matches if India Plays

Lahore, Nov 28 (NationPress) PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reiterated that the board is 'clear' in its position regarding the hosting of the Champions Trophy, adding that 'it's not feasible for Pakistan to play in India without reciprocation'.
'Our stance is clear,' Naqvi mentioned during a press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium. 'I assure you that we will prioritize what is best for Pakistan cricket. I am in constant communication with the ICC chairman, and my team is frequently in touch with them. We maintain our position that it is unacceptable for us to play cricket in India while they do not play here. Any developments will be based on equality. We have clearly communicated this to the ICC, and we will keep you updated on what unfolds.'
The Champions Trophy is set to take place at three venues in Pakistan from February to March next year. However, India, which has not visited Pakistan since 2008, informed the ICC earlier this month that their government has yet to authorize travel to Pakistan for the event.
'Whatever we pursue, we will ensure that the most favorable outcome for Pakistan is achieved,' Naqvi emphasized repeatedly. 'But I reiterate, and I believe you understand my point, it is not feasible for Pakistan to play in India without their coming here,' stated Naqvi.
Naqvi also mentioned that any decisions made during the ICC meeting would be presented to the Pakistan government for final approval by the PCB.
He called upon Jay Shah, who is set to transition from his role as BCCI secretary to the ICC chairman on Sunday, to prioritize the organization's interests in his new role.
'(Jay Shah) begins his tenure in December, and I am confident that once he transitions from the BCCI to the ICC, he will focus on the ICC's best interests, which is his responsibility. Anyone assuming such a position should prioritize the organization's interests above all.'
