Rashid Latif Indicates ICC Board Meeting on Champions Trophy to Occur Soon

New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) Former wicketkeeper-batter from Pakistan, Rashid Latif, has asserted that the ICC Board meeting dedicated to determining the venues and schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025 is anticipated to occur either on Sunday or the day after.
The ICC Governing Board's meeting on Friday did not achieve a consensus regarding this issue. This virtual meeting reportedly included all 15 board members – comprising representatives from 12 full member nations and directors from three Associate nations – along with CEO Geoff Allardice and Chairman Greg Barclay.
Latif noted that both the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) require additional time to consult with their respective foreign ministries.
He mentioned, "Deadlock. As per information, there is no ICC emergency Board meeting today. It will be tomorrow or the day after. BCCI and PCB need more time to discuss with foreign ministries," Latif shared on X, previously known as Twitter.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9. However, uncertainty has arisen following the BCCI's statement indicating a lack of consent from the Indian government for travel and participation in matches in Pakistan.
Pakistan is set to host the Champions Trophy 2025, with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi firmly advocating for the tournament to be held entirely within the nation. Given India's refusal to travel to Pakistan, a hybrid model appears to be the most likely solution for the organization of the 15-match tournament.
In the previous year, Pakistan successfully hosted the Men's 50-over Asia Cup using a hybrid model after India declined to visit the country. India played all their matches in Colombo, including the semifinal and final, which they ultimately won.
The Champions Trophy 2025 will involve eight teams, with four teams split into two groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, followed by the championship match.
