Unrest Within PCB Regarding Hybrid Format for CT 2025: Insider Reports

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s choice to host the 2025 Champions Trophy in a hybrid format, after India's refusal to travel across the border, has sparked discontent within the organization. Sources revealed to IANS that many members are displeased with how Pakistan has acquiesced to this decision.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has validated a proposal for a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025, in which India will conduct their matches in Dubai, while Pakistan will serve as the host for the remainder of the tournament.
As part of the arrangement, Pakistan is permitted to play their matches in the 2026 T20 World Cup in Colombo. Additionally, Pakistan has been granted hosting rights for an ICC women's event scheduled after 2027.
With the PCB embracing this arrangement, internal conflict has arisen within the PCB regarding the hybrid model. Some members have voiced their dissatisfaction, arguing that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi should not be swayed by ICC strategies, sources reported to IANS.
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif is among those expressing discontent with the PCB's acceptance of the hybrid model. He stated that being offered the women's cricket tournament post-2027 is inadequate compensation for hosting the CT 2025 in a hybrid format.
