New Delhi, July 26 (NationPress) The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) is preparing for a groundbreaking second half of its 2025 season, characterized by a record prize purse, new venues, and an expanded schedule designed to enhance the growth of professional golf in India.
Following an exhilarating first half, the tour will recommence on August 3 in Ahmedabad.
The latter half of the season will comprise 15 events with a total prize pool of Rs 17 crore, bringing the cumulative prize money for the 2025 season to over Rs 33 crore — an increase of more than Rs 8 crore from the previous year.
Among these events, the eagerly awaited DP World India Championship, co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour, will take place at the Delhi Golf Club from October 16–19. With a staggering prize pool of USD 4 million, it is set to be the richest golf tournament ever conducted in India, featuring some of the world's elite players, including the reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy.
The 2025 season will also introduce new world-class venues, including events at Clover Greens Resort & Golf Club in Tamil Nadu and Zion Hills Golf County in Karnataka. These locations will host flagship tournaments in August, each with a prize amount of Rs 1 crore.
The tour’s developmental circuit, PGTI NexGen, will also receive an enhancement, with three new events scheduled in Patna, Lucknow, and Bhubaneswar — marking PGTI’s inaugural entry into Odisha. With eight NexGen tournaments on the agenda for 2025, this tier continues to be a crucial platform for budding talent.
Since its establishment, the PGTI has conducted events across 17 states and 2 union territories. The addition of Odisha extends its reach to 18 states, underscoring its dedication to promoting professional golf in new regions and to wider audiences.
PGTI President Kapil Dev emphasized the importance of these advancements, referring to them as a “game-changer for Indian golf.” He expressed optimism that the expanded schedule, record prize money, and increasing number of events will create unmatched opportunities for players and elevate the tour’s global stature.
