PKL: Victory Over Haryana Steelers Significantly Enhances UP Yoddhas' Confidence, Says Assistant Coach Upendra Malik

Pune, Dec 18 (NationPress) The UP Yoddhas have greatly improved their chances of making it to the playoffs in Season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) following their win against the Haryana Steelers. The team's assistant coach, Upendra Malik, mentioned that this victory has provided a significant boost to their morale.

In the post-match press conference, Malik shared insightful observations about the team's impressive performance and playoff ambitions.

The 31-24 win against the Haryana Steelers marked UP Yoddhas' seventh consecutive victory, elevating them to third place in the points table. Following the game, Malik spoke openly about the team's form and strategy.

"Over the last 10-11 matches, our performance has been commendable," Malik highlighted. "Defeating a strong team like Haryana Steelers only adds to our confidence."

Malik specifically commended Bhavani Rajput, who played a crucial role in the triumph by scoring 11 key points. "Bhawani had an outstanding game. He contributed significantly with his points today, which was vital for our success," he noted.

The assistant coach elaborated on the team’s philosophy: "Each day presents a different star. If Bhawani is excelling today, we'll back him. If Gagan steps up, we’ll support him too," Malik explained.

With a mere three points standing between them and a top-six finish, Malik and the squad remain determined and positive. "We are definitely aiming to win our next two matches. If we succeed, we will surely progress further," he confidently stated.

Discussing the competitive nature of the league, Malik remarked, "No team is to be underestimated, nor are any overly strong. Every team is on equal footing. Our focus should be on executing our strategies effectively."

The team is acutely aware of the upcoming challenges, particularly against the Gujarat Giants, whom they face next. "We will devise a solid plan for the Gujarat Giants and will not take them lightly. We will approach the match with full strength and aim for victory," Malik asserted.

The first game on Thursday will see the UP Yoddhas clash with the Gujarat Giants. As the Yoddhas seek to secure their playoff spot as soon as possible, the Gujarat Giants aim to achieve their sixth win of the season.

The second match of the day will feature U Mumba going up against the Patna Pirates, with both teams eager to grab a playoff berth soon. While the Patna Pirates have shown better form recently, both teams can be quite formidable when at their best.
