Nicholas Pooran smashed a 16-ball 63 and forged a 94-run partnership with opener Mitchell Marsh (44) as Lucknow Super Giants recovered from a middle-order collapse to post 228/5 against Mumbai Indians in Match 47 of the IPL 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, 4 May. The total proved decisive in what was a must-win encounter for both sides, each languishing on four points from two wins.

LSG's blazing start

Asked to bat first by Suryakumar Yadav, deputising for an injured Hardik Pandya, LSG began aggressively. Debutant Josh Inglis fell early for 13 off five balls to AM Ghazanfar, but Marsh and Pooran seized the initiative from the fourth over onwards. Marsh struck Jasprit Bumrah for one six and two fours, including one off a no-ball, while Pooran followed suit in the next over with back-to-back sixes and a four. Himmat Singh finished on 40 not out off 31 balls (2x4, 2x6), while Markram remained unbeaten on 31 off 25 (1x4, 1x6). Their unbroken stand ensured LSG posted a challenging total despite the earlier collapse. Corbin Bosch was MI's standout bowler with 2 for 20, while Raghu Sharma took 1 for 36.
