Postecoglu Dismisses Fan Criticism, Prioritizes Team's Performance

London, Dec 6 (NationPress) After experiencing a 1-0 setback against Bournemouth on Friday (IST), Tottenham Hotspur is gearing up to implement some adjustments as they ready themselves to host Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a crucial match on Sunday. Head coach Ange Postecoglu, who had an animated exchange with the Spurs supporters following their loss to the Cherries, has acknowledged that the fans are not currently backing him.

“There isn’t much time for reflection; we returned at 2 am. It was a disappointing evening, and we have considerable work ahead,” Postecoglu stated. Regarding the fans, he remarked: “They are not standing behind me; they are supporting the club. I’m indifferent to who is supportive of me. The fans who traveled to Bournemouth are quite dedicated supporters. They were dissatisfied with what transpired and felt compelled to express their opinions. I have taken their feedback into account, and we’ll move forward,” he noted during the pregame press conference.

The North London team currently occupies the 10th position in the league standings, having suffered six losses in their first 14 matches, alongside two draws. Conversely, Chelsea is level on points with Arsenal but leads them on goal difference, sitting in second place.

Since their impressive 4-0 victory over Manchester City on November 23, Tottenham has drawn against Roma and Fulham and faced a loss against Bournemouth.

“We’ve performed well against the top teams, achieving not just victories but showcasing great play, whether it’s against City, United, or Villa. However, that doesn’t negate what occurred last night, which must be addressed. We’ll put that behind us; Sunday’s match is significant,” he added.

“Chelsea is performing impressively at the moment, boasting a relatively healthy squad and good form. It’s always a challenging match against them, but playing at home, we must ensure we deliver a performance akin to those in our previous games,” he concluded.
