Ange Postecoglou: Liverpool Reigns as Premier League's Top Contender

Liverpool, Dec 20 (NationPress) As Tottenham Hotspur gears up for their significant showdown against Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, head coach Ange Postecoglou commended the league frontrunners, asserting they are the ‘top team’ in the Premier League this season.
"We will stick to our style of play because that’s what has been securing victories for us, and that’s the approach we will take against Liverpool, a remarkable team that is performing exceptionally well. Arne has come in and taken on a challenging role after succeeding a figure of Jurgen Klopp's stature, but they have really found their rhythm as a team and boast quality across their starting lineup.
“They have shown resilience; just last week they managed to overcome a one-man disadvantage, and they are brimming with confidence right now. They are the standout team in the league thus far. However, on our best day, when we play our style of football, we can be formidable opponents,” Ange expressed during a press conference.
In addition to their league matchup against Liverpool, Tottenham is set to meet the Merseyside squad in a two-legged semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
The North London club has navigated a tough route to the semi-finals, having defeated both Manchester City and Manchester United. The Australian coach described this matchup as a ‘fantastic draw’ for his team.
"We are in it, which is what matters the most. It promises to be an exhilarating fixture. I could be mistaken, but in recent history, the Carabao Cup has typically been won by either a Manchester club or Liverpool. We’ve had to overcome both to reach this stage, making it a great draw for us,” Ange added.
Dominic Solanke netted two goals as Spurs withstood a comeback from Manchester United to secure their place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals in a thrilling seven-goal match on Friday (IST). A visibly emotional Ange was heard saying, ‘Are you not entertained?’ He reflected on the unforgettable moments from the match, emphasizing that football is all about ‘experiencing emotions’.
“I truly believe that a significant aspect of our game revolves around emotions, perhaps entertainment isn’t the right term, but the essence of football lies in evoking feelings that might not be felt in everyday life, both thrilling and nerve-wracking. That’s what makes football so captivating. I previously mentioned that watching a football match can be filled with tension, but when you come out victorious, it’s a truly exhilarating experience,” he concluded.
