New Chandigarh, April 11 (NationPress) Prabhsimran Singh, the opener for the Punjab Kings, attributed his team's remarkable mental fortitude to successfully navigating the pressure of a high-scoring match, as they maintained their unbeaten streak in IPL 2026 with a convincing win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the New International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh.

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) continued their flawless season with an exhilarating six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, the Kings faced a fierce Hyderabad side that raced to 120/0 within the first eight overs. Nevertheless, a stellar performance from the bowling unit saw SRH restricted to 219/6. In response, the Punjab batters exhibited their prowess once again, with openers Priyansh Arya (57 off 20) and Prabhsimran Singh (51 off 25) setting a blistering pace.

Captain Shreyas Iyer then took charge with a brilliant finishing display, scoring an unbeaten 69 off just 33 balls, guiding the team to a total of 223/4 in 18.5 overs.

After the match, Prabhsimran Singh emphasized the team’s mental resilience in dealing with the high-stakes game, stating that the victory underscored their capability to remain composed under pressure.

"When attempting a significant chase, it's crucial to capitalize on the powerplay. At one point, it seemed like they could reach 250 or more, but our bowlers made an excellent comeback. We've successfully chased in all three matches so far, and the quicker we adapt to the conditions, the better our cricket will be," Prabhsimran remarked.

He further praised the synergy within the batting lineup. "Priyansh is in great form, and we love playing together. Having clear communication from the captain and coach is vital; we motivate each other significantly, which is evident on the field during these challenging chases," he added.

A pivotal moment in the match occurred when the captain brought Shashank Singh into the bowling attack. In a strategic move, Shashank (2/20) dismissed both Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head in the same over, effectively halting SRH's momentum.

"Our captain introduced Shashank into the attack because of his previous success against Abhishek. Taking out both him and Head in the same over brought us back into contention. It was a fantastic strategy that paid off for us today," Prabhsimran explained.

He concluded by highlighting the fearless atmosphere cultivated by the coaching staff. "We have complete clarity and support. When you possess that, you can engage in high-risk cricket without the fear of getting out. It empowers you to play freely."

The Punjab Kings will next take on the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 16.
