Hyderabad, April 13 (NationPress) Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Heinrich Klaasen asserts that the team possesses the necessary depth and unity to strive for a playoff position in IPL 2026, despite having a rocky beginning to their season. The 2016 IPL champions return to their home venue after suffering a six-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh.

The team led by Ishan Kishan has managed only one victory in four matches. "This isn't the ideal start we were hoping for. I believe we are just a game away from where we would feel content. If you had told us we would get one or two wins out of four, we would have taken it," Klaasen expressed.

He continued, "However, we are now entering a new series of ten matches. Our goal remains to secure seven or eight wins. It’s more challenging, but it’s still achievable. We boast an extraordinary squad and a strong sense of unity that can still propel us to the playoffs," Klaasen stated to reporters as SRH prepares to face Rajasthan Royals.

Regarding his own performance, Klaasen rated it as "six out of ten." He remarked, "I wish to improve my speed. My last match didn’t go as planned, and I missed out on a few runs. I did face some difficulties, but I felt satisfied with my performance in the first three games."

"I may have missed one or two boundaries, but upon reflecting on my game so far, I'm quite content. It’s just a matter of moving past my last game," he added.

Klaasen also clarified why he hasn’t been keeping wickets this season. "Last year, Pat preferred having me alongside him to provide input. We found that the local players responded well to Ishan’s keeping. Thus, our strategy this season was similar. Unfortunately, Pat is still injured, which is why I haven’t been keeping, but I feel my wicketkeeping career is nearing its end," he concluded.
