IPL 2026: Klaasen Emphasizes Enhanced Intensity in Match Against RR
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, April 13 (NationPress) Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Heinrich Klaasen expressed that he exhibited significantly enhanced intensity while scoring 40 runs, contributing crucially to the team's impressive total of 216/6 against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday. Klaasen hit three sixes and a four during his quick 26-ball innings, partnering with Ishan Kishan, who led the scoring with 91 runs. "I would rate my performance at about a 7. I felt a lot more intense today, and I'm quite satisfied with that," Klaasen stated.
In a mid-innings interview with broadcasters, he mentioned, "Towards the end, after losing Ishan and during the drinks break, I lost a bit of momentum. However, prior to that, I was pleased with my intensity and how I was connecting with the ball."
Klaasen noted that while the pitch was favorable for scoring, the bowlers from Rajasthan Royals posed challenges once they adjusted their deliveries. "The wicket was excellent tonight. However, when they switched to wide yorkers and slower balls, it became a bit tougher to score," he remarked.
He further added, "Our strategy is to keep certain things under wraps. Once they started bowling wider, it was significantly harder to score. Anything that was straighter felt manageable for hitting boundaries."
One of the standout moments of the match was Klaasen’s six against pacer Nandre Burger, which he credited more to the quality of his bat than his timing. "I was a bit late on that delivery; the pace got to me. I’m grateful for my quality bats; I chose the heavier ones tonight for a better strike. Thankfully, it cleared the boundary, but I was indeed outpaced by him," he concluded.
