New Delhi, Dec 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, has declared a cash reward of Rs 1.5 crore for Pratika Rawal, a right-handed opener who played a crucial role in India’s championship victory at the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup.
The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) also announced an extra Rs 50 lakh prize for Pratika in honor of her contributions to India’s remarkable success.
Pratika was honored by the Chief Minister on Sunday, with her father Pradeep Rawal, Delhi’s Education Minister Ashish Sood, and DDCA President Rohan Jaitley in attendance.
The young cricketer represented Delhi in various age-group and senior domestic competitions before joining the Railways last season.
During the tournament, Pratika emerged as one of India’s key players, securing the title of the fourth-highest run-scorer with 308 runs in seven matches and maintaining an impressive average of 51.33.
“Today, the Chief Minister received Ms. Pratika Rawal, a gifted young athlete of the Indian women’s cricket team, at Jansewa Sadan. Our talented daughter Pratika has brought pride to Delhi. To honor her dedication to sports and her remarkable achievements, the Delhi government will grant her a cash award of ₹1.5 crore,” the CM stated on X.
“Pratika symbolizes the energy, bravery, and feminine strength of the new India. Her journey exemplifies how Delhi nurtures dreams and gives them the ability to soar. Wishing her a bright future ahead,” she added.
Unfortunately, Pratika was sidelined during the latter stages of the World Cup due to an ankle injury sustained in the final group-stage game against Bangladesh at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Nevertheless, she joined her teammates in celebrating on the field after the title victory and participated in later honors from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
