New Delhi, May 22 (NationPress) Preity Zinta, co-owner of Punjab Kings and renowned Bollywood actress, has initiated legal proceedings against her fellow co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia in a court located in Chandigarh. These individuals serve as directors of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the entity that owns the IPL team, Punjab Kings.
Zinta has contested the validity of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) that occurred on April 21. She asserts that the meeting was convened without adhering to the necessary protocols outlined in the Companies Act, 2013, and other regulatory frameworks. She had previously expressed her concerns in an email dated April 10, but claims that her objections were disregarded. She accuses Mohit Burman of proceeding with the meeting, backed by Ness Wadia.
While Zinta and another director, Karan Paul, were present at the meeting, she seeks a court ruling to render it invalid. A significant issue for her is the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a director during the meeting, which both she and Paul contested.
In her lawsuit, Zinta requests the court to prohibit Khanna from performing any director duties and to prevent the company from executing decisions made during that meeting.
She has also urged the court to halt any further board or general meetings unless both she and Karan Paul are present, and Muneesh Khanna is excluded, until the legal matter is settled.
Despite these legal challenges, Preity Zinta has remained a steadfast supporter of the Punjab Kings during the current IPL 2025 season. This year marks a notable achievement for the team.
Under the guidance of Shreyas Iyer, the Punjab Kings have successfully reached the playoffs for the first time since 2014. With 17 points from 12 matches, they currently hold the third position and are striving for a top-two finish.
The Punjab Kings are set to face Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on Saturday (May 24) and will conclude their league matches against Mumbai Indians on Monday (May 26).
