Premier League: Liverpool Fights Back to Secure 2-2 Draw Against Fulham with Ten Men

Liverpool, Dec 14 (NationPress) Ten-man Liverpool managed to grab a point in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Fulham, highlighted by a late equalizer from the returning Diogo Jota in the Premier League 2024-25 at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Andreas Pereira initiated the scoring for the visitors in the 11th minute, performing an acrobatic finish to convert a deep cross at the back post after a swift counter-attack.
Andy Robertson faced a red card shortly thereafter for bringing down Harry Wilson as the winger was about to break through on goal. Cody Gakpo brought the ten-man squad level shortly after the second half began by heading in a wonderful cross from Mohamed Salah at close range, giving Arne Slot’s side a glimmer of hope; however, Rodrigo Muniz netted a second for Fulham with just 14 minutes left in regular time. Yet, Jota, coming off the bench, scored an equalizer on his first appearance since October 20, ensuring Liverpool earned something from their efforts.
Fulham took the lead when Pereira stretched at the back post to hook in a center from Antonee Robinson, scoring via a deflection off Robertson in the 11th minute.
The situation worsened for Liverpool when Robertson was shown a red card in the 17th minute after Wilson capitalized on his attempt to control a ball and fell under Robertson’s recovery effort.
A lengthy VAR review followed, but the decision stood, ruling the incident as a denial of a goalscoring opportunity and leaving the Reds with much to do.
After the restart, the Reds quickly equalized when Gakpo dove to head in a splendid delivery from Salah from the left within the opening two minutes.
Fulham regained their lead with 14 minutes remaining when Muniz converted Robinson’s cut-back from close range following a raid down the left flank.
Desperately seeking a second equalizer, Nunez passed to Jota at the edge of the area, who sidestepped Jorge Cuenca and found the back of the net, leveling the game and securing a point for the night.
