Prime Minister Modi Applauds Indian Team for Outstanding Achievement at Asia Pacific Deaf Games

New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Indian contingent for their outstanding achievement at the 10th Asia Pacific Deaf Games 2024 held in Kuala Lumpur. In this edition, India secured a total of 55 medals, marking an incredible eleven-fold increase from their participation in 2015, where they managed to win just 5 medals.
The Prime Minister shared his commendations through a post on X.
“Kudos to our Indian contingent for their remarkable performance at the 10th Asia Pacific Deaf Games 2024 in Kuala Lumpur! Our skilled athletes have instilled great pride in our nation by achieving an astonishing 55 medals, representing India’s best-ever performance at these games. This incredible accomplishment has inspired the whole country, particularly sports enthusiasts,” wrote PM Modi in his post.
The Indian contingent comprised 68 members, including 42 men and 26 women, who collectively earned a historic tally of 8 gold, 18 silver, and 29 bronze medals, placing fifth among 21 nations, which is their finest performance in the quadrennial event since it began in 1984.
In the previous edition, the Indian team had secured five medals, which included 2 gold and 3 silver, in 2015 held in Taiwan, finishing ninth out of 23 nations. The 2019 edition was unfortunately canceled due to political unrest in Hong Kong.
The Indian squad achieved their highest-ever medal count in athletics with a total of 28 medals (5 gold, 12 silver, 11 bronze), alongside six medals in badminton (3 silver, 3 bronze), three in chess (1 silver, 2 bronze), seven in judo (2 gold, 5 bronze), three in table tennis (1 silver, 2 bronze), and eight in wrestling (1 gold, 1 silver, 6 bronze).
