New Delhi, Sep 7 (NationPress) Paris Saint-Germain has announced that they are facing a significant setback with injuries to Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue, both of whom sustained injuries during France's match against Ukraine.
PSG revealed that Dembele will be sidelined due to a hamstring injury, with his recovery expected to take approximately six weeks. Meanwhile, Doue’s calf injury will keep him out for around four weeks.
"The medical report dated September 6 pertains to Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue. After leaving the field injured in the match between Ukraine and France on Friday, Ousmane Dembele has incurred a serious injury to his right hamstring. His expected unavailability is around six weeks.
“Desire Doue also picked up an injury during the match, suffering a strain in his right calf, which will keep him out for approximately four weeks," stated Paris Saint-Germain.
Dembele had been rested by PSG as a precaution over the weekend and had recently resumed training with France. His injury comes just days before PSG's defense of their UCL title, where they will face Serie A's Atalanta.
The announcement follows a day after PSG's head coach Luis Enrique was involved in a cycling accident. The 55-year-old, who guided the club to their first Champions League title last season, sustained a fractured collarbone in the incident and will require surgery.
"Following the cycling accident on Friday, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique received medical attention and will undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone. The club extends its full support and wishes him a speedy recovery. Further updates will be provided as necessary," the club's statement read.
PSG secured a 6-3 victory over Toulouse in their last Ligue 1 match before the international break, maintaining their winning streak in the new season.
