Bambolim (Goa), Nov 1 (NationPress) Punjab FC has made a powerful move to strengthen their attacking lineup by signing Nigerian striker Nsungusi Jnr Effiong on Saturday. The 25-year-old centre-forward, who has joined the team in Goa for the AIFF Super Cup 2025, has inked a one-year deal following his recent tenure with Romanian club FC UTA Arad.

The addition of the 6'4" striker brings both experience and firepower to Punjab FC's offense as they strive for greater success this season. Effiong's journey includes a rich background in European and Central Asian football.

Effiong began his professional career with International Allies in Ghana before transitioning to Europe. He spent three seasons with Danish side HB Koge, initially on loan, where he made 58 appearances and scored 11 goals.

His journey continued in Central Asia, where he was loaned to FC Atyrau in the Kazakhstan Premier League during the 2023 season, netting seven goals in 25 appearances. Most recently, he played for Neftchi Fergana in the Uzbekistan Super League for the 2024-25 season, where he added another seven goals in 24 matches.
