New Delhi, Aug 5 (NationPress) Purani Dilli 6 coach Vijay Dahiya conveyed his optimism ahead of the season opener, expressing his belief that the team will deliver a commendable performance. Purani Dilli 6 is set to launch its Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 journey against Outer Delhi Warriors at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.
Following a robust performance in the 2024 season, where the squad advanced to the semi-finals, Purani Dilli 6 is preparing for another ambitious title chase this year. Dahiya underscored the significance of the inaugural match, noting that while the team has preserved its core, numerous alterations have still been implemented.
“I am hopeful that we will play exceptional cricket. It may sound like a cliché, but truthfully, every team aims for that. The initial match holds immense importance for any squad,” stated Dahiya before the first game.
“In terms of composition, we’ve worked to maintain the core group, yet there have been considerable changes. Thus, for any team, it’s always a challenge to integrate new players effectively in the opening match,” he elaborated.
The coach pointed out that most players from Purani Dilli 6 are well-versed in the conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, having frequently played there. He mentioned that Outer Delhi might feel some pressure after not achieving the desired outcome in their first game.
“All our players have experience at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Outer Delhi might be under pressure since they didn’t get the results they wanted in their opening match, and we intend to exploit that. These are early days, and we aim to find the ideal combination,” Dahiya remarked.
Akash Nangia, owner of Purani Dilli 6, stated, “We are confident heading into our first match. The players are eager, and our preparations have been exceptional. We’re looking forward to a strong kickoff.”
Following the opening match on Tuesday, a crucial face-off against West Delhi Lions is scheduled for August 7.
On August 8, the team will clash with New Delhi Tigers in an evening showdown at 7:00 PM. Their concluding group stage match is set for August 27, where they will encounter South Delhi Superstarz in another evening clash at 7:00 PM.
