New Delhi, March 19 (NationPress) The talented duo from Rajasthan, Swati and Rajat Chauhan, have been officially chosen to represent the Indian team at the upcoming Asia Cup archery tournament, set to take place from March 21 to 28 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Both Swati Dudhwal and Rajat Chauhan, who are natives of Rajasthan, secured their spots after excelling in the trials conducted at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Eastern Centre in Kolkata. With this achievement, they will become the first couple from Rajasthan to compete in an international archery event.
Currently, Swati works at the State Secretariat in Jaipur, while Rajat serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Rajasthan Police.
As accomplished compound archers and Arjuna Award recipients, both have garnered numerous accolades for India. They celebrated their marriage in a traditional ceremony in Jaipur in December 2025.
A host of archery luminaries, including Olympians Deepika Kumari, Atanu Das, and Tarundeep Rai, along with champions Rahul Banerjee, Jayanta Talukdar, Ojas Deotale, Aditi Swami, Prathamesh Fuge, and Prathamesh Jawkar, gathered to commemorate the couple's union.
In addition, Yogendra Singh from Rajasthan has been appointed as the coach for the Indian contingent at the Asia Cup. He indicated that the Archery Association of India has assembled a robust team to represent the nation. The squad underwent rigorous training at the Army Archery Centre in Pune from February 25 to March 5, followed by a preparatory camp in Kolkata from March 6 to 20.
The Indian team will depart for Bangkok from Kolkata and is anticipated to perform exceptionally, especially in the compound category, where India has historically secured numerous World Cup and World Championship medals.
Rajat Chauhan has previously brought home several international medals for India, including a silver at the Asian Games and an individual silver at the world championships, along with two golds, two silvers, and three bronzes at the World Cup.
In 2025, Rajat, alongside Aman Saini and Abhishek Verma, clinched two victories at the Archery World Cups, triumphing with a 232-230 win against France in the men's team compound final. At the 38th National Games held in February 2025, Rajat showcased his remarkable skills by winning the men's individual event.
On the other hand, Swati has attained gold at the World Archery University Championships and bronze at both the World Archery Youth Championships and the Asian Grand Prix Circuit. In May 2025, she also secured a bronze in the senior category at the Khelo India Women’s National Ranking Archery Tournament in Bhopal.
