Jaipur, March 18 (NationPress) The Rajasthan government is preparing to launch three significant innovations during the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, emphasizing sustainability and social impact.
Neeraj Kumar Pawan, Secretary of the Sports Department, stated that this year’s IPL in Jaipur will be conducted as a Green IPL, promoting a plastic-free atmosphere throughout the games.
In an innovative approach, the total runs scored in the five IPL matches at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium will dictate the number of trees planted.
With both teams usually scoring around 400 runs per match, the government anticipates planting 1,500 to 2,000 trees in and around the stadium, Pawan mentioned.
Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, all players participating in the Jaipur matches will engage in planting a tree.
Previously, players from Rajasthan Royals, including Rahul Dravid, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel, have planted trees in the stadium. This initiative will now include players from Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.
Moreover, the Jaipur IPL matches will act as a platform to advocate organ and eye donation. Players will participate in short awareness videos aiming to inspire the community.
Additionally, the matches will honor Dronacharya awardees and the families of organ donors from Rajasthan, recognizing their invaluable contributions.
These initiatives highlight Rajasthan’s dedication to sustainability and social welfare, transforming the IPL into a movement for positive change.
It is also worth noting that the state government has recently introduced its first 'green budget', with a focus on climate change adaptation, forests, environment, and biodiversity.
“Our government has concentrated on youth employment, environmental sustainability, and substantial infrastructure development. The budget aims to position Rajasthan as a vital force in India’s economic and green growth,” remarked Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, who also serves as Finance Minister.
In her comprehensive 138-minute address, the state Finance Minister outlined Rajasthan's aspiration to evolve into a $350 billion economy by 2030.
