New Delhi, July 27 (NationPress) In response to the National Council of Educational Research and Training’s (NCERT) initiative to include ‘Operation Sindoor’ in educational materials, Maulana Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, Chairman of the Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board, expressed his support on Sunday. He remarked that this inclusion would enlighten young minds about the bravery of the Indian armed forces.
In an interview with IANS in New Delhi, he mentioned that the Uttarakhand Madrasa Board has taken proactive measures in this regard.
“We have mandated that all madrasas in the state incorporate Operation Sindoor into their curricula. Our youth must learn about the courageous counterattack executed by the Indian Army within Pakistan, a nation lacking a formal constitution and known for its terrorism,” he asserted.
Qasmi praised the NCERT’s decision as a “significant advancement,” highlighting the need to foster national pride and ethical values in students.
He also endorsed Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s proposal to integrate the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayan into school syllabi.
“Presenting the life of Lord Ram to students can catalyze positive behavioral changes. When youth explore the life of Lord Ram, it may lead to a decrease in old-age homes since Lord Ram is regarded as the ‘Maryada Purushottam’—a paragon of respect and responsibility. Furthermore, the teachings of the Gita encourage self-discipline and moral integrity,” he commented.
Reinforcing his stance, Qasmi added, “Religion should serve the nation, but the nation supersedes even religion. This is the highest principle.”
This endorsement from a significant Islamic education figure is viewed as a gesture of inter-community support for military valor and cultural unity in education.
Notably, the decision to include Operation Sindoor in school textbooks has sparked enthusiasm among military veterans, who regard it as a pivotal move in nurturing patriotism and awareness regarding national security among the youth.
