Mumbai, July 27 (NationPress) Actor-director Kayoze Irani, who has recently made his directorial debut with the streaming film ‘Sarzameen’, opened up about his enlightening conversations with his father, Boman Irani.
Kayoze discussed with IANS during the promotional activities for ‘Sarzameen’, explaining that their dialogues about life and filmmaking are characterized by “philosophy infused with humor”.
He shared, “My dad and I have shared a passion for cinema for as long as I can remember. He introduced me to cinematic masterpieces from various eras. We would watch films together, and after finishing, we’d head to the DVD stores to pick up more movies. Our discussions about films often lead to disagreements, where I would insist, ‘No, I like this!’ and he would counter, ‘No, you’re mistaken!’ This dynamic has remained unchanged.”
He elaborated, “I have collaborated with him on the script for ‘Sarzameen’. He provided insights on the script and editing of his film ‘The Mehta Boys’. However, it has never been a directive approach; rather, it has been advisory, allowing me to maintain my own vision. It’s more about guiding me gently to ensure I stay on the right path. We analyze every film we view together, discussing what worked and what didn’t.”
“Our conversations are never focused on commercial success; instead, we discuss cinema from a more profound perspective, examining how films affect us emotionally. We share a strong connection at home, largely due to our mutual love for cinema. We honestly discuss everything, including my future projects, which he will also review,” he added.
‘Sarzameen’ is currently available for streaming on JioHotstar.
