New Delhi, May 19 (NationPress) Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have selected Zimbabwe fast-bowler Blessing Muzarabani as a substitute for South African pacer Lungi Ngidi in the squad for the IPL 2025 playoffs. RCB confirmed their playoff position after the Gujarat Titans triumphed over Delhi Capitals by ten wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
Ngidi, at 29, is set to depart RCB following the league phase to join his national team, South Africa, as they prepare to face Australia in the World Test Championship final at Lord’s, scheduled for June 11-15. In IPL 2025, Ngidi made one appearance for RCB, securing three wickets in their narrow two-run victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 3.
On Monday, the IPL announced that Muzarabani will officially replace Ngidi at RCB starting May 26, just a day before their last league match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow.
Muzarabani has played 70 T20Is for Zimbabwe, claiming 78 wickets. He has also represented his country in 12 Tests and 55 ODIs. The bowler will be joining RCB for INR 75 Lakh. Previously, he served as a net bowler for LSG during their inaugural IPL season in 2022.
The tournament also announced that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed Shivam Shukla as a replacement for Rovman Powell for the remainder of the competition. Powell is undergoing a surgical procedure for his tonsils.
