Chandigarh, June 9 (NationPress) Encouraging the residents of Ludhiana West to cast their votes for Viksit Bharat, Viksit Punjab, Viksit Ludhiana, Viksit West, Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu emphasized on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to Punjab is evident from the fact that despite his loss in the Ludhiana elections, he was appointed as the Union Minister.
"The primary objective of the BJP government at the national level is to foster the development of the entire country. For Punjab, the journey towards this development can initiate right here in Ludhiana. Consider PM Modi's dedication to Punjab; even after I lost the Lok Sabha election from Ludhiana last year, he chose to appoint me as a Union Minister. He did this to ensure that Punjab has a representative in his Cabinet who is committed to its progress. Previously, there were Sikh leaders like Hardeep Singh Puri, but he sought someone specifically from Punjab. I urge the Ludhiana populace to support BJP candidate Jiwan Gupta if they wish to see development in Ludhiana," stated Union Minister Bittu.
"Not only has he appointed me as a Minister, but he has also entrusted me with a vital portfolio such as Railways. Recently, we inaugurated the Chenab Bridge valued at Rs 43,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir, which is a border state. Punjab, being another border state, also deserves significant projects like this. The only way to realize such projects is to ensure that the BJP remains in power in Punjab; otherwise, we risk falling behind other states," he added.
Challenging the Aam Aadmi Party's assertions of simplicity, Union Minister Bittu questioned who is footing the substantial hotel expenses incurred by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during his campaign in Ludhiana for the upcoming by-election.
He further alleged that CM Mann had booked an entire floor of the hotel.
Bittu pointed out that past Chief Ministers and even Prime Ministers visiting Ludhiana typically resided at the Circuit House or Sutton House at Punjab Agricultural University.
"Who will be responsible for the hotel expenses now that the model election code of conduct is in effect?" Union Minister Bittu questioned.
The Union Minister also criticized AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora, stating that he failed to accurately recall the name of martyr Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha during an event.
"If someone cannot even remember the names of our martyrs, how can we trust them to uphold and protect the values they represented?" he asked.
The by-election for Ludhiana West Assembly is scheduled for June 19, with the vote counting set for June 23.
