Chandigarh, April 10 (NationPress) Taking a serious view of the viral footage purportedly depicting Punjab Minister Hardeep Mundia threatening a businessman, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced on Friday its intention to address the issue with Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.

Union Minister of State for Railways and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu introduced the aggrieved businessman, Malkit Singh, to the press here, stating that this matter would be brought to the attention of the Punjab Governor.

Accompanying Union Minister Bittu, BJP MLA from Mukerian, Jangi Lal Mahajan, called for a CBI investigation into the situation and stressed the necessity of securing the victim's family's safety.

Bittu remarked that the actions of Laljit Bhullar, a former Punjab Minister, which occurred in Amritsar, are now being mirrored by Minister Mundia in Mukerian.

The difference, he elaborated, is that while Gagandeep Randhawa, an official from the warehousing corporation, tragically took his own life due to harassment, Malkit Singh has opted to resist.

The Union Minister emphasized that both the BJP and others voicing concerns against the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government stand resolutely with the family of the businessman.

He also accused the state government of claiming to attract foreign investments while simultaneously intimidating local business owners, those who foster entrepreneurship and job creation in Punjab, and extorting funds from them.

Bittu asserted that this "loot" is being funneled to Delhi.

The victim, Malkit Singh, alleged that nearly a year ago, Minister Mundia commissioned a trolley costing Rs 6.5 lakh but failed to make payment.

When Malkit Singh sought payment, Minister Mundia allegedly pressured him to relinquish a portion of his business.

Additionally, Malkit Singh claimed that due to pressure from Minister Mundia, notices were issued against him by the Punjab State Pollution Control Board and other agencies in an attempt to force his business to close.

He expressed that his family's safety and property are at risk, alleging threats from gangsters.

Malkit Singh's brother has already suffered an attack, and despite lodging a complaint, police have yet to take action against Minister Mundia.
