New Chandigarh, April 20 (NationPress) Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Krunal Pandya commended the performance of his bowlers, attributing their success in limiting Punjab Kings to 157/6 in 20 overs after a promising start at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Punjab Kings, invited to bat first, found themselves at 62/1 by the end of the powerplay thanks to aggressive innings from openers Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhsimran Singh (33).

However, the RCB bowlers regained control, showcasing dominance in the middle overs with both Krunal and Suyash Sharma taking two wickets each while maintaining economical figures throughout their four overs.

"A commendable effort. Considering how they started in the powerplay, they applied pressure on us. To limit them to 157 from that position is an outstanding achievement," Krunal stated during the mid-innings break.

He also mentioned that slower deliveries posed a challenge for the batters. "I noticed that with the fast bowlers, pace-on deliveries were significantly easier to handle. On this pitch, the slower the bowl, the tougher it becomes for batters," he explained.

"We need to perform exceptionally well with the bat. The powerplay will be critical. If we play up to our potential, we can chase this target successfully," remarked the all-rounder.

After losing wickets at regular intervals during the middle overs, Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen made valuable contributions of 31 and 25 runs respectively, helping their team surpass the 150-run mark.

RCB will now look to their batters to seek redemption following their five-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.
