Ahmedabad, Nov 30 (NationPress) The vibrant city of Ahmedabad became a hub of endurance and unity as over 24,000 runners participated in the 9th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park. This year’s event, centered around the meaningful theme of #Run4OurSoldiers, served as a heartfelt tribute to India's Armed Forces, gaining added significance against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor.

The marathon was inaugurated by prominent personalities including Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Ltd., Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, and Major General Gaurav Bagga. The event also featured notable figures such as fitness ambassador and actress Mandira Bedi, Olympic medalist and Padma Shri awardee Gagan Narang, and Preeti Jhangiani, actor-producer and Vice President of the Indian Olympic Association. Renowned designer Aaquib Wani was also in attendance, along with senior officials from Adani Sportsline.

Additionally, Yastika Bhatia, a cricketer and recent signee for Gujarat Giants, joined the celebration. Notably, more than 4,000 military personnel and police officers participated, underscoring the marathon’s message of respect and solidarity towards those serving the nation.

Competitors ran in various categories including the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 km, and 5 km, on a course that highlighted some of Ahmedabad’s most famous landmarks such as the Gandhi Ashram, Atal Bridge, and Ellis Bridge. The official marathon jersey, designed by Aaquib Wani, symbolized the spirit of the event and its tribute to soldiers.

With a prize pool exceeding Rs 40 lakh across the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K categories, winners were recognized in multiple competitive and age-group divisions.

The marathon is acknowledged by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and is listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) Global Marathon Event List, a registry that ensures global standards for course accuracy and event quality. The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon has grown to become one of India’s most esteemed distance-running events.

During the event, Pranav Adani stated, "Since 2017, the Ahmedabad Marathon has evolved into a pivotal event embraced by our cherished city. This year, the theme of #Run4OurSoldiers resonates profoundly as our Armed Forces stand proud during Operation Sindoor. The involvement of over 24,000 runners illustrates how this event has transformed into a cherished movement for the city."

Major General Gaurav Bagga remarked, "The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon represents more than just a sporting event; it embodies the enduring connection between the Armed Forces and the citizens. Seeing over 4,000 personnel running alongside thousands from across the nation was incredibly uplifting, reflecting unity and the positive spirit that defines India."
