Harsh Sanghavi backs 10th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon on Nov 29
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister Harsh Sanghavi has extended his support to the 10th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon, scheduled for 29 November 2026. He received the official edition jersey from Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer of Adani Sportsline, at a meeting held ahead of the milestone event.
A Decade of Running for Soldiers
The 10th edition continues the marathon's flagship #Run4OurSoldiers initiative, which has brought civilians and Armed Forces personnel together each year to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of India's soldiers. First launched in November 2017, the event has grown into one of the most recognised community running events in the country, earning a spot on the Global Marathon Event List — AIMS World Running in 2022 — the only Ahmedabad race on that global register.
In 2025, more than 24,000 participants joined the #Run4OurSoldiers event, reflecting a steady surge in public engagement over the decade.
What Sanghavi Said
Speaking at the jersey handover, Sanghavi said, 'The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon completing its landmark 10th edition is a proud moment for Ahmedabad and reflects how sport can bring people together around a larger purpose. For a decade, the marathon has carried the spirit of #Run4OurSoldiers, allowing thousands of citizens to run in honour of the courage, service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces.'
He further stated: 'From the historic battles of 1947 to the decisive resolve of Operation Sindoor, our soldiers have continuously stood as the unbreakable shield of our nation. It is heartening to see Armed Forces personnel themselves be part of this journey and to see the city come together year after year in their honour.'
Sanghavi also connected the marathon to Ahmedabad's larger sporting ambitions, noting that such initiatives 'play an important role in building a strong culture of fitness, participation and community around sport' as the city readies itself for the Commonwealth Games 2030.
Race Categories and Participation History
The marathon offers four race formats: full marathon, half marathon, 10 km run, and 5 km run. The first two editions each attracted nearly 20,000 participants, while the third and fourth editions drew over 17,000. Post-COVID, the event was among the first in India to resume as a physical race, deploying time-slot-based systems that allowed over 8,000 runners to participate across two days in 2021 while complying with COVID-19 protocols.
Adani Sportsline's Perspective
Sanjay Adesara expressed gratitude for the Deputy Chief Minister's endorsement, calling the jersey presentation 'a proud moment as we celebrate a decade of running in honour of our Armed Forces.' He added that Adani Sportsline looks forward to contributing to Ahmedabad's sporting journey as the city builds toward Commonwealth Games 2030.
With the 10th edition approaching, organisers are expected to aim for record participation, building on the momentum of 24,000 runners in 2025.
