Aligarh, March 24 (NationPress) In a significant move, the Uttar Pradesh Government has appointed Indian cricket sensation Rinku Singh as the Regional Sports Officer. His coach, Masooduzzafar Amin, expressed his appreciation for this decision, emphasizing that it will serve as a catalyst for young cricketers to engage with the sport and bolster the sporting framework in the state.

Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to employ six international medalists, including Rajkumar Pal, a member of India’s bronze medal-winning hockey team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ajit Singh, a javelin thrower, and Simran, a sprinter, will serve as District Panchayat Raj Officers, while Praveen Kumar, a Paralympic gold medalist, is set to become a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
Previously, the three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) appointed Rinku as their vice-captain for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Rinku has showcased his talents through explosive batting and agile fielding for KKR.
At 28 years old, Rinku brings valuable leadership experience from various domestic leagues and previous IPL seasons.
Kolkata Knight Riders, under the leadership of veteran opener Ajinkya Rahane, will kick off their IPL 2026 journey against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.
Their initial home game is scheduled against the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 2, followed by matches against Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants on April 6 and 9, respectively.
