Jaipur, Feb 13 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Royals have officially embarked on a new chapter by selecting Riyan Parag as their captain in preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The 23-year-old described the occasion as not only emotional but also empowering.

Having been part of the Royals organization since the inception of his IPL career, Parag reflected on the franchise’s influence in his development and the immense pride he feels in assuming this leadership position.

“The Rajasthan Royals have been my home in the IPL from day one. This franchise has supported me, nurtured me, and encouraged my growth each season. Parag’s selection marks a continuation of the Royals’ philosophy of cultivating young leaders from within the organization. Having previously been part of the team’s leadership group, he now takes on full captaincy duties during a critical period for the franchise.

The Rajasthan Royals will enter IPL 2026 equipped with an enhanced coaching staff led by Sangakkara as Director of Cricket and Head Coach, supported by a highly skilled and experienced backroom team dedicated to optimizing preparation and performance. The support staff comprises Vikram Rathour as Lead Assistant Coach, Shane Bond as Fast Bowling Coach, Trevor Penney as Assistant Coach, and Sid Lahiri as Performance Coach.
