What Did Riyan Parag Say About RR’s IPL 2025 Journey?

New Delhi, May 20 (NationPress) In anticipation of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) facing off against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their last IPL 2025 encounter, all-rounder Riyan Parag expressed that had they won four to five closely contested matches, their circumstances would be notably different.

Entering IPL 2025, RR was primarily reliant on an Indian batting lineup while lacking in bowling strength. Unfortunately, they struggled to find their rhythm and were eliminated from playoff contention early. Currently, RR sits in ninth place with six points from 13 matches and must secure a victory against CSK to avoid finishing at the bottom of the points table.

“It has been quite a journey. We had nearly four to five games that were close, and if they had swung our way, we would have found ourselves in a much better position. But that's the nature of T20 cricket and the IPL. We have made mistakes, and now we are facing the consequences,” Parag remarked during a pre-game interview with broadcasters.

On a personal note, Parag admitted he has struggled to hit his stride this season, in contrast to IPL 2024 when he made it to the India white-ball team. “I have had numerous opportunities to start strong but failed to capitalize on them. I believe that had I converted even fifty percent of those starts, our team’s standing could have been significantly different. I hold myself accountable and constantly look for ways to improve,” he elaborated.

He also mentioned that RR aims to conclude their IPL campaign on a positive note. “We are concentrating on today’s match and will see how it unfolds. The rescheduling has provided us with some advantages as batters. We need to be more decisive.”

“It’s crucial to respect the conditions and the opposing bowlers. We’ve made efforts to put on a show. Chennai has done the same. Collectively, we must deliver an exciting performance for our fans and ensure a thrilling match.”

CSK batter Dewald Brevis shared his excitement for Tuesday’s game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, expressing that it should be a fun experience, especially after the tournament's rescheduling. “The jet-lag isn’t too severe; I've had ample rest and am ready for action. Being part of this team has been a joy, and I believe we’ve played excellent cricket throughout the tournament, moving in the right direction.”
