New Delhi, April 12 (NationPress) Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed that he feels no shame regarding his limited English speaking abilities, even though he has faced consistent trolling on social media.

The wicketkeeper-batter emphasized that the primary requirement of his profession is cricket, not fluency in English.

“I have no concerns. I take pride in one aspect: everything I express comes from the heart. I may not know English well. My only regret is not having received sufficient education, but I am not even one per cent ashamed of my inability to communicate in English, even as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team,” said Rizwan during a press conference for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The right-handed batter encouraged younger cricketers to prioritize their education to enhance their English speaking skills.

“The expectation from me is cricket, not English. I regret not finishing my education, which has led to my challenges in speaking English. I advise my juniors to complete their education so they can communicate effectively in English,” Rizwan remarked.

“Currently, Pakistan requires cricket from me. There’s no demand for English. When that time comes, I’ll step away from cricket and become a professor - but I don’t have that kind of time,” he concluded.

Recently, Rizwan faced online trolling for his lack of fluency in English during interactions on the New Zealand tour.

Rizwan is set to lead the Multan Sultans in the PSL 2025, which kicked off on Friday. The Multan Sultans are scheduled to compete against the Karachi Kings at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday.
