Mumbai, Sep 28 (NationPress) Rohan Jaitley, the president of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) infrastructure committee.
The BCCI wrapped up its 94th Annual General Meeting on Sunday at its headquarters, where former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas took over from Roger Binny as the new president. Additionally, Rajeev Shukla and Devajit Siakia were re-elected as vice-president and secretary, respectively.
The Infrastructure Committee will now be led by Rohan Jaitley, with a team that includes Manhas, Shukla, Saikia, Prabhtej Bhatia, A Raghuram Bhat, Anirudh Chaudhury, and Sana Sathish Babu. Former BCCI president Binny previously held this position.
Before this appointment, the role was occupied by Roger Binny. Rohan Jaitley will now oversee the management of cricket grounds across the country, prioritizing the construction of new facilities and the enhancement of existing ones.
In December of the previous year, Jaitley was re-elected as the DDCA president, garnering 1,577 votes compared to 777 for former India cricketer Kirti Azad.
Manhas, Shukla, Saikia, Bhatia, and Bhat are the new office bearers of the BCCI, with Bhatia and Bhat serving as joint secretary and treasurer, respectively. Furthermore, Jaydev Shah was elected as the representative of the General Body in the Apex Council of the BCCI.
Two representatives, Arun Singh Dhumal and M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar, were chosen to join the Indian Premier League Governing Council.
The BCCI also established separate selection committees for men’s and women’s cricket, with Ajit Agarkar continuing as the chair of the men’s committee and former cricketer Amita Sharma being elected as the new chair for the women’s committee.
Agarkar will be supported by Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra, and former India cricketers R. P. Singh and Pragyan Ojha in the men’s committee. Meanwhile, Shyama Dey, Sulakshana Naik, Jaya Sharma, and Sravanthi Naidu will assist Amita in the women’s committee.
The BCCI also announced the formation of a junior cricket committee, with S Sharath as chair. He will be accompanied by Harvinder Sodhi, Pathik Patel, Krishna Mohan, and Ranadeb Bose.
Finally, Manhas, Shukla, Saikia, Bhatia, and Bhat will also participate in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) committee, which will be led by Jayesh George and includes Madhumati Lele, Sanjay Tandon, R. I. Palani, and Dhumal.
