Mumbai, April 9 (NationPress) The widely celebrated online game chess is making its debut at the upcoming Esports World Cup 2025, and S8UL, a leading name in esports, will be vying for glory in this new category alongside the usual titles.

With a staggering prize pool of $1.5 million (around INR 12.8 crore), this year’s Esports World Cup, scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 7 to August 24, is set to be the highlight of the esports calendar.

S8UL, a prominent entity in the esports and gaming content realm, has officially declared its participation in five titles at the eagerly awaited Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. The initial lineup includes Chess, EAFC 25, Tekken 8, Call of Duty (COD): Warzone, and Apex Legends, with more titles and official rosters to be unveiled in the imminent weeks.

Boasting the largest prize pool in esports history and featuring 24 of the globe's premier esports titles, the Esports World Cup will also designate a Club Champion — the leading esports organization across all competitions. With over 50,000 square meters allocated to fan interactions, global pop culture integrations, and entertainment, the event guarantees to be the largest gaming festival worldwide.

While all other titles were part of the inaugural edition of the EWC, the Esports World Cup Foundation, in partnership with Chess.com, announced the introduction of Chess in this year’s iteration. S8UL will be the first team from India to represent the nation in Chess at this esteemed tournament.

By entering into globally competitive titles like EAFC, Warzone, Apex, Tekken, and Chess, S8UL emerges as one of the pioneering Indian organizations to compete at such a scale and across a diverse array of esports titles. This signifies a clear progression towards global recognition, illustrating the evolution of Indian esports from regional accomplishments to a significantly larger platform.

Through this participation, S8UL reinforces the notion that Indian esports organizations are primed to compete at the highest echelons, alongside some of the most prominent figures in the international esports landscape.

“The announcement video was our way of engaging the community right from the outset — demonstrating that S8UL’s strength lies not just in gameplay but in storytelling,” stated Animesh Agarwal, known as 8Bit Thug, Co-founder and CEO of S8UL.

“This is a pivotal moment for Indian esports. Our entry into titles like EAFC, Warzone, Apex, Tekken, and Chess is more than mere participation — it’s a bold statement. S8UL is going global. We’re stepping into arenas that many never envisioned an Indian organization could enter, and we’re doing it with passion, skill, and purpose. We’re not merely here to play — we’re here to leave a legacy. And this is just the beginning of that journey,” Agarwal added.
