Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Dubai, March 23 (NationPress) Pakistani batsman Sahibzada Farhan has been awarded the ICC Men's Player of the Month for February 2026, after an impressive performance in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 held in Sri Lanka. He emerged as the top run-scorer, accumulating 383 runs across seven matches (six innings) at an average of 76.60, which included two centuries and two half-centuries.
The right-handed batsman had an exceptional tournament, achieving a strike rate of 160.25 and surpassing Virat Kohli's long-standing record for the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. Notably, he became the first player to score two centuries in one global T20 event, with innings against Namibia and Sri Lanka.
Sahibzada triumphed over competitors Will Jacks from England and Shadley van Schalwyk of the USA, following a fan vote on icc-cricket.com and a selection panel of former international players and media experts.
This marks the first time Farhan has clinched this monthly ICC accolade, making him the first male cricketer from Pakistan to do so since pacer Haris Rauf in November 2024.
“Winning this ICC award is a remarkable experience, particularly given the high stakes of the World Cup, where fans globally are engaged. It adds to the significance of this achievement,” Farhan stated in an ICC release.
“This tournament is one I will always remember, and I aim to maintain this momentum in future series and competitions. I owe immense gratitude to my teammates for their unwavering support; this achievement wouldn't have been possible without them.”
Farhan reached a new career-high rating in the latest Men's T20I Batting rankings, climbing to second place following his brilliant century against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. He also set a record partnership of 176 runs with Fakhar Zaman, the highest for any wicket in T20Is.
His remarkable journey through the tournament included scores of 47, 73, 0, 100 not out, DNB, 63, and 100 across seven matches, earning him a spot in the ICC Team of the Tournament.
