New Delhi, June 8 (NationPress) After achieving a remarkable ODI series sweep against the West Indies, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is now focusing on intensifying her preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup, which kicks off on September 30.
In a rain-affected match at Taunton, England successfully limited the West Indies to 106/8 in a 21-over-a-side game. Nat contributed significantly by scoring a half-century as England completed the chase with 65 balls remaining and nine wickets in hand.
"That’s a fantastic way to conclude the series. Although we faced some rain interruptions in Taunton, we aimed for more chances in the middle, but the conditions made that difficult," Nat expressed to ICC at the series' conclusion.
The five T20I matches between India and England will take place at Trent Bridge, Bristol County Ground, The Oval, Old Trafford, and Edgbaston from June 28 to July 12. The three ODIs, crucial for the ODI World Cup perspective, are scheduled in Southampton, Lord’s, and Chester-le-Street from July 16 to 22.
"We are exploring different player combinations and strategies. Gathering insights now is essential as we approach the World Cup. It's encouraging to see that every player who got a chance rose to the occasion. After a few days off, some will participate in domestic matches, and we will be ready for India," added Nat.
This series victory against the West Indies also marked Nat's first win as captain, working alongside new head coach Charlotte Edwards. England will next host India for five T20Is and three ODIs. England previously claimed the ODI World Cup at home in 2009 and 2017 and was the runner-up in the last edition held in New Zealand in 2022.
