New Delhi, Jan 6 (NationPress) Pooja Rani, a bronze medallist at the World Championship, alongside Jadumani Singh from India, achieved effortless victories, while Lovlina Borgohain, who secured a bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, and veteran Amit Panghal faced tougher challenges to progress in the Elite Men and Women National Boxing Championships at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, on Tuesday.

This event marks the first occasion where both men's and women's National Championships are conducted concurrently at the same venue, attracting over 600 boxers from across the nation competing in 10 weight categories for each gender.

Pooja (75–80kg) from Haryana decisively defeated Anju from Chandigarh with a score of 5–0, showcasing her dominance, while Jadumani (50–55kg) displayed such superiority against R Parthiban from Tamil Nadu that the referee halted the match in the second round.

In contrast, it was a challenging bout for two other renowned athletes. Saweety posed a significant challenge to Assam's Lovlina, who managed to win narrowly with a 3–2 split decision.
