New Delhi, Feb 1 (NationPress) Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has applauded Wriddhiman Saha for leaving an unforgettable impact on the sport of cricket following the wicket-keeper batter's retirement from all forms of the game.

Saha was honored with a guard of honour from his teammates on the second day of their Ranji Trophy match against Punjab at Eden Gardens on Friday.

In his career, Saha played 141 First-Class matches, amassing 7,169 runs at an average of 48.68, which includes 14 centuries and 44 half-centuries. The 40-year-old's last appearance for India was in December 2021 against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium.

On the international stage, Saha participated in 40 Tests, accumulating 1,353 runs with an average of 29.41, in addition to nine ODIs.

Although he missed the IPL 2025 auction, Saha has been a part of every IPL season since 2008. His most recent team was Gujarat Titans, where he clinched the title in 2022. Throughout the years, he has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings, where he notably scored a century in the 2014 final.

The 40-year-old announced his retirement from all forms of cricket during the current Ranji Trophy season.
