Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed that the core of the 15-member squad remains intact from their recent successful outings against England, Bangladesh, and during their tour in the United Kingdom, as they aim for a fourth consecutive home ODI series victory.
The series opener is scheduled for August 8, with the subsequent matches taking place on August 10 and 12. The West Indies recently faced a setback, losing the T20I series to Pakistan by a score of 2-1, with all matches held at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida. This marked the seventh consecutive time Pakistan claimed a T20I series against the West Indies.
This series against Pakistan is a crucial step in preparation for the 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup. Head coach Daren Sammy emphasized that the matches against Pakistan will serve as an opportunity to fortify their ODI squad and maintain the momentum built over the past 18 months.
“Pakistan poses a unique challenge as we strive for automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup. While our immediate objective is qualifying, sustaining a winning mentality and team cohesion is vital for our long-term success,” he stated.
“The forthcoming matches against higher-ranked teams like Pakistan provide essential opportunities to gain valuable ranking points, enhancing our standing ahead of the World Cup,” he added.
The West Indies squad includes: Shai Hope (Captain), Jewel Andrew, Jediah Blades, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Justin Greaves, Amir Jangoo, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, Jayden Seales, and Romario Shepherd.
