West Indies Set to Play Warm-Up Match in Rawalpindi Prior to Test Series Against Pakistan

Lahore, Dec 24 (NationPress) The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially announced the arrival of the West Indies in Islamabad on January 6. Following their arrival, they will participate in a three-day practice match against the Pakistan Shaheens from January 10-12 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This will be followed by a series of back-to-back Tests against Pakistan in Multan.
The first Test match is scheduled to take place from January 17-21, while the second Test will occur from January 25-29.
This upcoming tour marks the West Indies' first Test visit to Pakistan in 19 years, with their last series being a three-match contest in November 2006. The most recent away Test series against Pakistan occurred in the UAE in October 2016. Nevertheless, the West Indies have made three visits to Pakistan since April 2018, including an ODI series in June 2022 and two T20I series in April 2018 and December 2021.
The 15-member squad selected for the two-Test tour in January features standout batter Amir Jangoo, who secured his position after an impressive score of 104 not out off 83 balls during his ODI debut against Bangladesh and consistent performances in regional cricket. Additionally, spinner Gudakesh Motie, who missed the recent Test series against Bangladesh, makes a return to bolster the team.
Injuries have sidelined Shamar Joseph, while Alzarri Joseph was not available for selection. This series will conclude the World Test Championship cycle for both teams, which currently sit in the lower half of the standings, striving to finish on a strong note.
Andre Coley will oversee the coaching duties for this series, with Daren Sammy set to assume red-ball coaching responsibilities starting in June.
