New Delhi, Feb 4 (NationPress) The NRAI and SLI have made the decision to postpone the league's inaugural season to later this year. This change is aimed at strengthening the league's long-term viability, expanding its broadcast reach, and increasing fan involvement. This strategic move is designed to position the league as a leading platform for Indian shooting, capitalizing on the considerable sports momentum expected from major international events in 2026 and beyond.

The adjustment was made after extensive discussions with key stakeholders, including broadcast partners and franchises.

The revised schedule allows the league to align better with the international shooting calendar, as the original launch date was planned prior to significant multi-sport events of the year, like the Asian Games, where Indian shooters strive for excellence.

Additionally, the league is taking this opportunity to enhance its production capabilities. As India's first franchise shooting league, SLI is adopting advanced broadcasting technologies that are yet to be utilized in India for this sport. The SLI is collaborating with specialized third-party partners to elevate broadcast quality, ensuring a seamless, world-class viewing experience.

Moreover, the league is working closely with state associations to broaden the sport's reach across the nation, emphasizing talent cultivation and infrastructure development. This extra time also permits franchises to execute organized city activations, school outreach initiatives, community events, and supporter clubs, fostering a robust fanbase ahead of the SLI's commencement.

NRAI president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo stated, “Our priority is to provide our athletes with the most prominent platform possible. By adjusting the season schedule, we are creating a dedicated timeframe during which the Shooting League of India receives maximum television exposure. This change enables us to bring our shooters back from significant events as stars, affording them the recognition they deserve while ensuring that the league's product is technically impeccable.”

“This additional preparation phase allows us to transition from alpha testing to broadcast excellence. Our goal is to deliver a flawless, world-class viewer experience from the very first shot,” he added.

NRAI secretary general Pawankumar Singh emphasized, "We are seizing this opportunity to fortify the league's foundation. We are actively collaborating with state stakeholders to ensure that the SLI supports the sport at the grassroots level. Simultaneously, we are engaging technical experts to refine the final details, building a sustainable and high-quality ecosystem that entertains fans for years to come."
