How Can Prashant Solanki, Inspired by MS Dhoni, Achieve Redemption for Nashik Titans After MPL Final Loss?

New Delhi, May 26 (NationPress) Captain Prashant Solanki of the Eagles Nashik Titans guided his team to the finals of the 2024 Maharashtra Premier League, but unfortunately fell to the Ratnagiri Jets in the decisive match.

Drawing from his experiences under MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings, the 25-year-old is determined to lead his team beyond the final hurdle and amend their performance after a painful 34-run loss in the championship.

“Finals, regardless of the tournament, bring a unique kind of pressure. We played exceptionally well throughout the match, but in one inning, we failed to perform. It stings. Naturally, you want to win the final and lift that trophy,” Solanki shared with IANS.

“From what I learned over the past 3–4 years, our process was not optimal during that game. This is why we couldn't succeed. The mindset remains unchanged; you must go back and correct what could have been improved. In future opportunities, I aim to seize them fully,” Solanki emphasized.

Solanki, a right-arm leg-spin bowler from Mumbai, joined Chennai Super Kings in 2022 after initially serving as a net bowler, with his contract valued at INR 1.2 crore. He made his debut against Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium, and although he did not take any wickets in his first match, he later dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shimron Hetmyer in a subsequent game against Rajasthan Royals.

On the insights gained from MS Dhoni, one of India's most revered captains, Solanki stated, “Everyone mentions his calm demeanor. He simplifies everything. I believe a substantial part of his success stems from the transparency he maintains with bowlers and staff.”

“I also strive to remain calm in tense moments or take a deep breath to clear my mind and make the right choices. This practice has proven beneficial; I’ve noticed he often takes that extra moment in high-pressure scenarios, whether batting or leading. That additional second can significantly impact the outcome,” he added.

State-level T20 tournaments are crucial for aspiring players wishing to carve a name for themselves. A prime example is Priyansh Arya, a batter for Punjab Kings, whose career accelerated following an outstanding performance in the 2024 Delhi Premier League.

Another noteworthy case is Solanki's teammate, Arshin Kulkarni. The all-rounder earned a spot on the India U19 squad following last year’s MPL and was subsequently signed by Lucknow Super Giants for his base price of INR 30 lakh.

Solanki spoke about the significance of these tournaments, given the attention they draw to young talents.

“These tournaments are incredibly valuable for us. Players shine in their local leagues. Our team has had stars like Arshin Kulkarni, who scored an impressive century in the inaugural MPL, went on to represent India U19, and entered the IPL circle with LSG. Our squad features multiple IPL players, like Mukesh Chaudhary and myself. These leagues are critical for young players to stand out, attract attention, and catch the eyes of IPL scouts watching the games.”

“Moreover, we enjoy cricket within our state, where all the talented players come together.
